What is fruit pizza
Fruit pizza is basically a pizza-inspired dessert. The crust can range from regular pizza dough to sugar cookie dough to puff pastry.
Instead of tomato sauce, something sweeter is used like icing, cream cheese frosting or whipped cream.
Then, pepperoni and sausage are subbed out for slices of fresh fruit.
This fruit pizza recipe is unique and absolutely fantastic because it starts with a buttery puff pastry crust and is baked with cheesecake filling right on top. Then, it’s finished with homemade whipped cream and sliced fruit.
Fruit Pizza with Cheesecake and Puff Pastry
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- pinch salt
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp sanding sugar, optional
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2 cups fresh fruit
Instructions
- Heat Grill: Place a pizza stone inside your grill. Heat the grill to 375F degrees. For the Ninja FlexFlame, use the roast/bake setting.
- Make Cheesecake: In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, yogurt, 1 egg, vanilla and salt.
- Create Dough: Unfold the puff pastry sheet. Place it on a sheet of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to roll it out to 10×14 inches.
- Score: Place a knife 1/2 inch in from the edge of the dough. Score a rectangle all the way around. Be sure not to cut all the way through the dough. This helps form the crust.
- Sauce: Spread the cheesecake filling over the pastry inside the rectangle you created.
- Crust: Brush the outer edge with a beaten egg. Sprinkle sanding sugar around the entire crust.
- Bake: Keep the pizza on the sheet of parchment paper and transfer it to the preheated pizza stone. Close the lid. Bake for 15-18 minutes, rotating half way through the cook. The cheesecake will rise. That's normal.
- Cool: Remove the pizza from the grill. Let it cool for 15 minutes.
- Make Whipped Cream: Place the whipping cream in a small bowl. Whisk until stiff peaks form. Add the powdered sugar and whisk a few more seconds.
- Top: Spread the whipped cream over the cooled pizza. Decorate with sliced fruit or berries.
- Serve: Slice and enjoy!

How to bake cream cheese puff pastry fruit pizza
Place a pizza stone in your grill or oven and preheat it to 375F degrees. For the Ninja FlexFlame, use the roast/bake setting.
- STEP ONE: In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, Greek yogurt, 1 egg, vanilla and salt. Mix until smooth.
- STEP TWO: Unfold the puff pastry. Place it on a sheet of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to roll it out to about 14 inches and 10 inches.
- STEP THREE: Place the tip of a knife about 1/2 inch in from the edge of the dough. Score a rectangle all the way around. Don’t let the knife go all the way through. This will allow the crust to rise.
- STEP FOUR: Spread the cheesecake mixture over the puff pastry within the rectangle you just made.
- STEP FIVE: Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with sanding sugar.
- STEP SIX: Keep the fruit pizza on the sheet of parchment paper and transfer it to the preheated pizza stone on the grill. Bake for 15-18 minutes, rotating halfway through the cook.
PRO TIP: The cheesecake will rise as it cooks. This is normal. Once it cools, it will flatten.
- STEP SEVEN: Remove the pizza from the grill. Transfer it to a pizza pan or cutting board and allow it to cool for 15 minutes.
- STEP EIGHT: Place the whipping cream in a small bowl. Use a hand mixer to whisk until still peaks form. Add 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and whisk for a few more seconds to combine.
- STEP NINE: Spread the whipped cream over the cooled pizza.
- STEP 10: Place slices of fruit or berries on top of the whipped cream. Slice and serve.
