All-Purpose Barbecue Rub

This is that one staple barbecue rub you need in your pantry that goes great on pork, beef, poultry and seafood.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp kosher salt
  • 3 tbsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp pourable brown sugar*
  • 2 tbsp ancho chili powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated garlic
  • 1 tbsp granulated onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp celery seed

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Rub it on your meat before you barbecue or grill it.

Notes

Makes 3/4 cup (12 tablespoons)
*Pourable brown sugar is brown cane sugar that has been crystalized so that it doesn't clump together. Using it allows you to store this rub in your pantry longer. 
You can substitute regular brown sugar if you plan to use the BBQ rub within a month. 
To make this a sugar-free rub, omit the brown sugar altogether.
