Cast Iron Tennessee Honey Whiskey Apple Crisp

Pecan Topping
- 3/4 cup pecans chopped
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp butter melted
Filling
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 apples diced
- 3 tbsp Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
Thickening Ingredients
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp sugar
Heat the grill to medium (about 400F degrees), creating an indirect cook area and a direct cook area.
Combine all of the topping ingredients in a medium bowl.
Combine the filling ingredients in a large bowl.
Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet on the grill over direct heat. Add the topping ingredients and cook, stirring often, for 8 minutes. Return the topping to the bowl and set aside.
Pour the apple mixture into the skillet and move the skillet to indirect heat. Close the grill lid and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The apples should be tender with a little bite.
Combine the thickening ingredients together in a small bowl. Pour into the skillet. Move the skillet over direct heat and cook, stirring often for 8 minutes.
Spoon the topping over the apples and continue cooking for 2 minutes.
Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
