LAS VEGAS – Award-winning pitmaster Christie Vanover, the girl behind one of America’s top BBQ websites GirlsCanGrill.com and a contestant on Food Network’s BBQ Brawl, has launched a new micro-podcast designed to help people up their BBQ game.

The BBQ Tips Podcast drops every Thursday morning and includes in-depth tips on how to barbecue, different meat cuts and trending products in the barbecue and grilling industry.

“There are a handful of barbecue podcasts out there, and they’re all entertaining, but most are around an hour long,” said Vanover. “I know people are busy and time is valuable, so I created a podcast that was 15 minutes or less. It’s aimed at getting to the meat of the information quickly.”

The podcast is available on streaming platforms through Apple, Amazon, Spotify and iHeart Radio. It’s also available on YouTube.

As of Feb. 1, the podcast is now streaming for free on Embers TV, a platform that includes some of the biggest barbecue stars on the internet and delivers barbecue, open fire and outdoor cooking content that entertains, empowers and educates.

“Embers TV is thrilled to be able to host the BBQ Tips Podcast by Christie Vanover. Christie is a clear authority and leader in the BBQ world and brings a wealth of knowledge. She will be a welcome voice on the Embers TV streaming platform,” said Carlos Bradley, Embers TV CEO.

The BBQ Tips Podcast launched Jan. 11. In the first episode, Vanover explained the general difference between barbecue, grilling, smoking and live fire cooking.

In episodes two and three, she shared the new technology and specialty foods related to grilling that she discovered at the Consumer Electronics Show and Fancy Food Shows. Both were held in her hometown of Las Vegas.

“I’m lucky to live in Las Vegas where several food-related conventions happen every year,” she said. “Attending the shows allows me to share an insider’s perspective to what is up and coming in BBQ.”

Vanover plans to attend the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in February and the National Hardware Show in March. Both will be featured on future podcasts.

Episode four of the BBQ Tips podcast dropped Feb. 1. In anticipation of the Super Bowl, which will be played in Las Vegas Feb. 11, the show focuses heavily on chicken wings.

Vanover shares how to cut whole wings into party wings, how to season them, and how to smoke and grill them on virtually any type of grill.

Not only does she share all of this content in around 15 minutes on the podcast platforms, she also posts a transcript of each show on her website. From there, visitors can access hundreds of barbecue and grilling recipes for free.

Because Vanover is an award-winning competitive pitmaster and was named the 2023 Nevada BBQ Team of the Year, she said future episodes will touch on some competition secrets that she’s willing to share.

“Whether it’s in the backyard or on the competition circuit, the goal of Girls Can Grill has always been to provide easy-to-understand information about grilling to encourage more people, especially women, to give it a try,” said Vanover. “The BBQ Tips Podcast adds to my portfolio of educational resources, and I hope people find it helpful.”
