What are lemon pepper wings

Lemon pepper is a seasoning that combines dried lemon zest with black pepper and other herbs and spices. It’s a great seasoning to use for grilled chicken wings.

Ingredients do vary widely. Some brands use a lot of salt in their blends, so be sure to check the label.

Lemon pepper wings are chicken wings that are seasoned with the lemon pepper seasoning and finished with a lemon pepper sauce made up of the seasoning and melted butter.

They’re an easy appetizer to make for your next game day party, but because they use such simple ingredients, they’re also awesome for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Lemon Pepper chicken wings ingredients.
  • Chicken Wings: You can use whole chicken wings or pre-cut party wings.
  • Chicken Rub: Any chicken rub will work. I like to use my Homemade Dry Rub for Chicken Wings.
  • Lemon Pepper Seasoning: Not all lemon peppers are the same. Some are very salty. Look at the ingredients. If you see salt as one of the first ingredients, you may want to reduce the amount you use. I use a salt-free lemon pepper when I make these wings.
  • Melted Butter: If your lemon pepper has salt in it, be sure to use unsalted butter.

Storage

Chicken wings are best enjoyed right away because over time the skin will lose crispiness. If you do have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Reheat them in the microwave or an air fryer. You can also freeze cooked chicken wings for up to 4 months, but they won’t be as tasty reheated.
